The St. Thomas More Society of Maryland is an independent organization of lawyers, judges, law students and clergy active in the legal profession. The Society is named for the 16th century lawyer, judge and diplomat who became the first layman to serve as Lord Chancellor of England, the crown's chief minister as well as it's highest judicial officer.
For American servants of the law, the life of St. Thomas More has become a model for men and women trained in the heritage of English common law. The Maryland Society's objective is to encourage those involved to apply the principles and ideals exemplified by St. Thomas More in their daily lives and in the legal profession.
